ABOUT US
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a minimum of $60 hr. I do offer fixed pricing for multiple projects if requested. A 50% deposit is required through PayPal at the time of the order and I will provide your first proofs usually within 2 business days.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to work directly with my clients. If you want a logo designed I have a questionnaire I ask people to complete to help give me a good idea of the direction to go. I also ask for a signed contract and deposit up front.
What training do you have that relates to your work?
My previous position prior to starting my own business was as the Senior Designer for a large direct mail company, not only designing but also occasionally filling in in the pre-press department of our sister print shop.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
The print shop I worked in went from the dark room to digital, the transition became learn fast or leave, I learned fast and loved it!!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with restaurants, musicians, non-profit organizations, funeral homes, just about anyone who needs design work done. I also really like working with individuals, whether it's a wedding invitation package or a Bar Mitzvah program or an anniversary memento - I just love making your ideas come to life!
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently completed a brochure for a client that featured products designed as educational materials for use by elementary level students, in conjunction with the Smithsonian. It was a 12 page brochure with a 3 week deadline. I was able to provide my client with per page pricing versus hourly in order to keep them in line with their budget and also had no problem meeting, actually being ahead of deadline.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who asks you questions. I find that an individuals favorite things help when creating a design. Colors, styles, etc. I like to have a client show me other marketing ideas that appeal to them.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Do you know what you want? How will you be using it? As crazy as that sounds, I have had clients that came to me with design jobs and they hadn't even selected or registered a business name. That makes it difficult for a designer and it ends up costing more in the end.
